Marcello Carletti was born in Parma (Italy) on Xmas Day, 1975.

In July 2002 he received the Master Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Parma discussing a Thesis entitled "Realization of a Hybrid Omnidirectional/Pin-hole Stereoscopic System and Machine Vision Techniques for Autonomous Robotics", mainly developed at the Department of Neural Information Processing of the University of Ulm, in Germany.

From September 1999 to the graduation day he worked (for some examinations works and part of the Thesis work) with the local group of the ART (Azzurra Robot Team) Team participating to RoboCup, the soccer competition for autonomous robots. During this period he mainly focused on IR sensors, motors control, trajectory planning and machine vision.

From September 2002 to January 2003 he was a graduated visitor of the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione of the University of Parma, where he is now a PhD student.

His research interests currently focus on Real-Time Computer Vision and Computer Architectures for Automatic Vehicle Guidance (ARGO Project - Vision Lab). In particular, he is working on the development of drive aiding systems based on IR cameras and radar sensors.
