About Me

From January 2014, Alessandro Costalunga is a PhD student in Information Technology at the University of Parma, under the supervision of Prof. Luca Consolini.

He received the Bachelor and the Master Degree, both cum laude, in Computer Engineering at the University of Parma, in October 2010 and March 2013, respectively. In his Master Thesis he worked on minimum-time control of an open liquid container, under the supervision of Prof. Aurelio Piazzi and Prof. Luca Consolini, in collaboration with Zanelli s.r.l. In 2013 he recieved a scholarship to continue this research activity.

His research topics are related to virtual holonomic constraints for mechanical systems and geometric control. In 2014 he has been visiting scholar at the University of Toronto, under the supervision of Prof. Manfredi Maggiore.

Experiences

project name

Visiting Scholar at University of Toronto
(September 2014 - December 2014)

Under the supervision of Prof. Manfredi Maggiore, he has been visiting student at the University of Toronto. He attended Non linear system and Game theory and evolutionary game. He attended, only as auditor, the course of Topology.

project name

Teaching Assistant in Foundations of Automatic Control
(Spring 2015, Spring 2014, Spring 2012)

He is Teaching Assistant in Foundations of Automatic Control, taught by Prof. Aurelio Piazzi.

project name

Scholarship at University of Parma
(August 2013 - December 2013)

The ACtLab group collaborated with Zanelli s.r.l. on the minimization of the time displacement of a tank filled of liquid. With the scholarship he developed a software, which allows to find the minimum time profile displacement of the tank.

project name

Sick Robot Day 2012
(March 2012 - October 2012)

RedBeard Button team member, winning Sick Robot Day 2012. On October the 6th, 2012 in Waldkirch (DE), was held the IV Sick Robot Day, an international mobile robotics competition organized by Sick AG which was attended by 15 universities from Germany, Czech Republic and Italy who had the task of programming an autonomous robot that recognizes balls of a precise color in an arena, takes and carries them into its own door. The team team from University of Parma, with 7 students led by Prof. Dario Lodi Rizzini, recovered seven balls correctly, winning the first place.
